Time Warner Cable adding 18 HD channels in North Texas
After being forced to wait months upon months to get the HD channels it was rightfully owed (okay, so we made that last bit up), the folks in North Texas are finally being treated properly this time around. According to a Time Warner Cable bulletin posted in the Dallas News, the entire North Texas metroplex -- included Arlington, Carrollton, Dallas, Irving, Garland, Plano, Richardson and Graham (just to name a few) -- is being gifted at once. There are 18 newcomers headed to town, and if all goes to plan, they'll be live just hours after you read this. Hit the read link (or just have a look above) to see what all is on deck. I hate how the Dallas area is called North Texas. Everyone knows Wichita Falls is North Texas. :)

I just visited my best friend at his new house in southern Garland, and boy does his TWC suck.
First of all, I think the cableman gave him an old "HD" cablebox. I have not seen this old generic looking Motorola model before, I had seen another friend with a TWC Motorola cable box that looked alot similar to the one I'm using with Fios.
What's even worse is that they set up an HD cable box, and connected it thru coax, no HD cables at all.
The box was also supposed to have DVR functionality, but it apparently doesn't work. I tried to see if Fios was available in his area, but the website doesn't recognize his address.

I have TWC because I'm addicted to TiVo. I only watch shows on the major networks, so many of the other HD channels aren't of interest. With that said, I've been pleased with my service for the past few years. These new channels are great... although, they haven't rolled all of them out. TLC and the Weather Channel show "Reserved For Future Use" whenever I tune to them, but others are broadcasting. I live in McKinney, so I'm interested if others are experiencing the same.

Since 2/3 of the population of the city of Dallas lives in Multi-Family dwellings that means no FIOS for us, and we'll take an extra helping of HD from TWC - thank you very much.

Richardson here...Seems these channels started today. I am missing Planet Green & ABC Family HD.
Mule: That is funny. I actually just checked and U-verse is finally available in my area. I guess that's what it takes to light a fire under TWC...

Honestly they give me USA and G4 HD, and maybe BBC and i am good. Those are the only 3 channels left that i actually watch anything off of not yet in HD. Science Channel in HD though, thank god for that :D
