TWC now handing out tuning adapters in Austin, Texas
We knew that Time Warner Cable was allowing customers in various regions around the country to pre-order their tuning adapter, and tonight we've received the first report of delivery. For those out of the loop, these free adapters enable CableCARD users to tune into any channel that's delivered via switched digital video (SDV); without one, your current TiVo (for example) won't ever be able to see any channel beamed out with the new technology. The lucky locale is Austin, Texas, but we get the idea that other places should be seeing them soon. Give your local TWC office a call, and do report back (bonus points for images) if you've found that your city now has 'em as well. [Disclosure: Engadget is part of the Time Warner family][Thanks, Andy]

Yea just picked mine up today. Got to the local office and there was a HUGE line. Apparently people were waiting over an hour to get one.
This was because everyone who had requested one in Austin got called by TW today, being told that there were more than enough for everyone. What they didn't say is what time to go get them lol
I'm told installation is very easy and painless, hooking it up to my Tivo Series 3 now.

Got my tuning adapter, a cisco sta1520 today Dec 13. The Led flashes and won't stay solid. The head end is not able to see it. It is supposedly able to "kick it". After 2 hours of calls, I have to wait for a tech support guy to come out Wednesday. Seems like TWC is having the same problems training their people as when Cable Cards were deployed. I have some diagnostics available from the Tivo, but nobody at TWC is able to interpret them.

led was blinking all day sunday.
When I got home from work monday, the led was off.
I pushed in the switch on the front of that adapter and the light finally stayed solid.
I did not have to restart the tivo or adapter again. I now have the sdv channels
including the Tennis Channel on my tivo now.

In Austin.....
I plugged in my Tuning Adapter this morning.....after an hour on phone support and a truck roll, it's still not working. Local TW personnel say they had no training and don't know what to do.

Also wasn't able to get my adapter to work. Apparently they forgot to set up the system before they started handing out the adapters. Good work TWC.

Has anyone tried this with Media Center and the ATI Digital Cable Card tuners?

Picked up mine here in San Antonio two days ago (1/12/09). Not too much trouble setting it up, other than the usb cable being a bit short. After going through the steps listed with the adapter, it worked fine.

Are you using it with a Tivo or Media Center?
