I mounted my tv to the wall, then I used the hole for the vesa mount to mount the extender directly to the wall behind the TV. It's not visible and that's all that really matters.

Bobsled

Comments on Samsung MediaLive Digital Media Adapter review

I had one of these but returned it... There is indeed absolutely NO way to get multi-channel sound out of it even with an HDMI A/V receiver (and the silly thing claims to be HDMI 1.3 capable as well!). I tried and tried (even called Samsung) only to find out that it just can't be done (not even with a future firmware update from what they told me on the phone). It seems completely absurd that Samsung would build a "Media Center" extender with no way to output surround sound for all of your HD TV shows. D'oh!

TheOfficeMaven

Comments on Samsung MediaLive Digital Media Adapter review

I was just in the market for one of these and came to about the same conclusion. I did buy a new Samsung TV that was compatible with this device, but I bought a Linksys DMA-2100 and a Harmony Remote to tie them together. This solution works out to be more "integrated" than the complete Samsung solution, and cheaper, since I could get a DMA-2100 for only $110 from Amazon. If I want to wall-mount the TV or get surround sound (that HDMI receiver trick won't work, by the way), I'd be out of luck. If I wanted to change TV's I'd be out of luck.

There just is about no good advantage to using the Samsung extender that I could find. The "cons" far outweighed the "pros".

Glenn

Comments on Samsung MediaLive Digital Media Adapter review

Boy was I glad that Amazon took this back. After waiting several month for this to come out (and pre-ordered it), it was not ready for primetime. I love Sammy. My 42'plasma and 1080p DVD are great. I also have a 22' SyncMaster 226bw. I would have thought with all of the delays this would be the perfect extender. I returned 3-360 (including one elite) and really wanted this to work not being a gamer. The Anynet feature was great. It was very sluggish and locked up several times. Terrible product.

John Pace

Comments on Samsung MediaLive Digital Media Adapter review

Check out the Popcorn Hour A-110. It is the Best MCE on the market. The linksys looks as a good alternative, but the menu transition is slow.

There are a few new BR/MCE poping up, and more to come, but they are all from unknown companies.
