Warner gets official with The Dark Knight BD-Live extras
Not like we haven't heard about these much anticipated features already, but it's always refreshing to get it straight from the horse's mouth. Or Warner Home Video's mouth, in this case. The Dark Knight marks the studio's very first foray into the controversial world of BD-Live, and what's apt to be the best selling BD of the year will pack quite the interactive punch. Owners with Profile 2.0 players will be able to "host their own Live Community Screenings with friends, record and post user-generated commentaries over the film using My WB Commentary, access more The Dark Knight content exclusive to Warner Bros. BD-Live, get sneak peeks and trailers of upcoming Warner Bros. films, create an online library of Blu-ray movies, manage a wish list for upcoming releases and connect to the WB store." As we've already seen in a number of instances, there's also a hint of a BD-Live-assisted interview with director Christopher Nolan "during a special Live Community Screening." For the full spill, give that read link a gentle tap.

hey hey @ Dec 1st 2008 5:11PM
All I care about is TrueHD audio and a wonderful picture.

Agreed,
This BD-Live stuff has gimmick written all over it. Unless you are a 12 year old pimple faced kid that is. If you want interactive content just go to the web site.
Just give me the High Def movie!
I'm not interested in higher disc prices due to this cr*p.

Another case where I just have ZERO interest in 2.0 support.
Though this movie is going to kick ass on BD, I just won't use any of the shitty 2.0 features they put on the disc.

I just hope their servers are on point........as I would HATE to see a repeat of the Iron Man BD debacle.......

we can all agree that the main attraction of this disc is the actual movie and damn it sure was a f&@king movie. i am still interested in the live chat with Christopher Nolan, something which could be very interesting and also very difficult to pick one question out of millions that between my friends and i have to ask him that might not even be picked out of the bunch.

All these add ons and "features" (that no one really cares about) is just a way of trying to justify the higher prices. Most consumers simply want them to drop the prices instead of adding bloat to the disc. I just want to watch the movie and could care less about any commentary from the director's brother's cousin's roommate. Until the prices fall you wont see any increase in format adoption.
