Around the Engadget HD Thanksgiving table, we never fail to mention our gratitude for HD sports. Beginning December 3, our
cricket-loving friends in India will (hopefully) be able to discover this joy for themselves as ESPN Star Sports airs Champions League Twenty20 cricket. It's the first HD sports broadcast in the Indian subcontinent, where HD is so new that it is unclear how viewers will actually receive the signal -- there are no HD options available to pay-TV customers. So, we're keeping our fingers crossed that in the days left, providers either: get their acts together and come up with a HD offering (good), or enable the service for all subscribers until things get sorted (better). Believe us, once subscribers see the magic that HD can bring to spin- and speed-bowlers alike, they'll find the rupees to keep the HD flowing!

Turns out unfortunately no Indian delivery platform is HD ready, so the event will be produced in HD, but only transmitted in SD. Bummer - India will have to wait some more I guess!
Bold move for ESPN STAR to go ahead and produce in HD though - at least we can look forward to great archive action when HD does come to India. I hope some of the other broadcasters showing it around the world can show it in HD at least.

ESPN already produced the recent Stanford 20/20 tournament final ($20 million match) in HD and even broadcast it in HD in the USA.

If we can only get ESPN to deliver some of the cricket in HD goodness to us in the United States, it would be awesome.

If your ISP has espn360.com you can probably watch all the ESPN cricket on there in "HD"...

They delivered only a couple of tourney's so far. Nothing consistent.
