If you're planning on buying into a new HD set and/or a Blu-ray player this holiday season, the BBC is packaging up a six-disc Blu-ray set that you'll want to check out. "The BBC Earth Collection" combines the "
Planet Earth: The Complete Series" and "Earth: The Biography" like so much peanut butter and chocolate -- if you're getting a whole new TV and Blu-ray player setup, it's a great way to show off your new gear; if you're just getting a Blu-ray player for your current set, the visuals will make your TV feel new again. There's nothing new added to either title, but expect to see this box show up with an MSRP of $130. If it seems pricey, remember that new gear isn't any good without content!

Did Earth: The Biography ever come out on HD DVD? I can't find any references to it.
Planet Earth is one of my prized HD DVDs. A beautiful work.

Squiggle, Earth: The Biography came out this summer on on Blu-ray. No HD DVD for that.
Although I don't own Earth: The Biography and wouldn't mind owning it, this set isn't enticing enough for me. Everyone who's seen Planet Earth knows its the ish, but the audio needs to be remastered into Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA. Then they'll tickle more money out of me. Come out with a Collectors edition with high res audio and Bonus View (1.1) commentary and I'll be first in line.

Also, just FYI, Earth is just a re-cut of Planet Earth into a feature length film; although there have been reports of better PQ on Earth, it's the same thing just shorter.
