Time Warner Cable finally recognizes Raleigh, adding 4 HD channels
We're struggling to believe this is real, but it appears that Time Warner Cable has finally woken up and realized that it serves a great number of increasingly frustrated people in the greater Raleigh / Durham, North Carolina area. While locales like San Antonio have upwards of 70 HD channels on TWC, the poor citizens of the Triangle have been suffering with just a handful for years. Sure, TWC gifted the area with Big Ten Network a few weeks back, but seriously, who's watching that in the heart of ACC territory? Nevertheless, the carrier is gearing up to add Discovery HD (260), SPEED HD (273), ESPNU HD (288) and Bio HD (296) on October 29th, all of which will be listed in the "Free HD" lineup. We still feel the people of Raleigh deserve a few more, but so long as this is just the beginning of lots more, we'll be content. [Disclosure: Engadget is part of the Time Warner family]

Dear Time Warner,
You suck, currently on-demand isnt working nor is food network HD.
Love,
a customer of yours only because you have a monopoly in manhattan and I live in a rented building so I can't put a dish on the f%$#ing roof.

It's too little, too late.
I along with a number of my co-workers in the Raleigh-Durham area gave up on TimeWarner and have switched to Dish.
These 4 HD channel additions don't make me regret my decision at all.

Awesome, I waited 2 years after I bought my Plasma. In January I made the jump to Dish...Only two channels are missing from Dish, but TWC is no where near ready to compete.

Too late indeed. As soon as I bought a house I didn't hesitate to switch to DirecTV and I don't miss Time Warner in the least. Lack of HD, but no lack of price. That, plus the last software update they did for the HDDVRs was just awful in my opinion.

They are supposed to be adding these channels and more to the Charlotte NC area pretty soon.

So what about us in Charlotte. I'm glad our country cousins in Raleigh got more channels but what about us?
Just kidding Raleigh, just kidding.

Why no CNN HD two weeks before the election.... sheesh!

TWC will justify this by saying that the HD channels are free. However, really I'm having to pay for digital cable, which I care nothing about. So...while I shouldn't complain that I have more HD channels coming my way, once I'm out of my apartment I getting a dish.

Sweet! Finally a couple of new HD channels we'll actually watch. The question is whether they'll be SDV-based, which would mean us using cable cards will still be left out to dry until the SDV tuning adapters become available.
