RCA introduces $60 ANT1500 flat OTA antenna
Nah, this isn't yet another digital-to-analog converter, just a tried-and-true OTA antenna for those looking to ditch their pay-TV provider and live off the fat of the land (or whatever HD locals you can fetch, same difference). The RCA ANT1500 Flat Indoor Antenna is a 10.5-inch square that checks in at just under one-inch thick, and its design supposedly helps it minimize the "cliff effect." RCA notes that this device is just the first of seven new RCA antenna products created with digital TV reception in mind that will be announced this year, and those satisfied with numero uno can find it around right now for $59.99 (or less if scouring the streets).

i picked one of these up from my local walmart and i was impressed. it works much better than my rabbit ear antenna's. i was getting boxy channels on nbc, upn, and wb. now all those channel are ultra clear.

I had bought a $50 amplified antenna a while back and got sick of one channel never coming in, so while I was switching out the antennas, the channel came in crystal clear with just the extension cable laying on the floor. Go figure.

That's funny, after the cutoff date in February the entire UHF band will shut down, and the HD stations -- all of which are currently up there -- will move back down into the VHF core. Methinks you need a different reception strategy than this for VHF, starting with the antenna elements...

I don't know who told you that but that's not what's happening.
Ch. 14-69 compose UHF TV
post Feb. 19, 2009 everyone must evacuate Ch. 51-69
So we'll still have Ch. 14-50 in UHF
And we'll still have Ch. 2-13 VHF but 2-6 will be avoided
So the main focus of them will be on Ch. 7-13 VHF and Ch.14-50 UHF
Funny enough UHF antenna commonly still have gain in VHF Ch.9-13
So a UHF antenna with some Ch. 7-8 VHF rods should cut it for most people
