Sony unveils BRAVIA S4000 series LCD HDTVs
Another month, another BRAVIA. Not that we're kvetching or anything, though. On the docket today are four new ones from Sony which make up the all new S4000 family. Arriving in 26-, 32-, 37- and 40-inch sizes, the crew showcases Sony's fresh "draw the LINE" design concept and features a deep piano black finish, clean lines, gently-rounded curves and a swivel base to boot. The largest of the four boasts a 1080p Full HD panel, 24p True Cinema mode and the outfit's BRAVIA ENGINE 2 signal processing technology, while the other guys get stuck with the original BRAVIA ENGINE and "HD Ready" panels. The whole lot gets a trio of HDMI sockets,an integrated DVB-C / DVB-T TV tuner and a dynamic contrast ratio at or above 22,000:1. No word on a price / release date, but we're figuring that they land somewhere in Europe first.

When is somebody going to make an LCD with DECENT CONTRAST?
Answer: Never, its not possible.
As for people on about the black surround................I like black but its only going to show how piss porr the contrast really is when you watch a film in 2.35:1

The LCD in link uses localised dimming, which if you knew what you were talking about you would know is a shit load of fuck.
Look at the two pictures, the LCD is too dim, which is strange for an LCD, brightness is normally something it over does to compensate for its piss poor contrast.
I am not going to explain why LCD can never display balcks, do the research yourself.
How many more times can sony add extra letters to crap and you lot believe every word they say? The XBRXTRAbrightLIGHThouseLCD

Not to be critical towards sony's pr team, but that has to mathematically be the worst place of a tv I've ever seen. Tons of light, no curtains, and a couch with it's back to the tv - made out of bricks (in case you get any fancy ideas about turning it around to enjoy your new bravia).

When is someone going to make an LCD with a screen large enough to see 1080p in a room larger than a bathroom?
