In exchange for purchasing 100 percent of 180 Connect's stock at $1.80 per share,
DirecTV will take control over one of its largest installers, while in a separate deal, UniTek USA is taking over all of 180 Connects old cable TV servicing units and certain DirecTV installation markets in exchange for Unitek's installation business in several areas. All this swapping and dealing should be complete in the third quarter, when a large number of customers in California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Arkansas, Virginia, Hawaii and western Pennsylvania can expect their first DirecTV visit, to come from an actual employee of the company. Check out the PR for all the business details and locations involved and let us know if you think a shakeup from your cable or satellite provider's customer service would be welcomed.

You can't control what you don't own. I think this is a first step in improving a really bad situation.
It took five visits from an Installer to get a problem with reception worked out. The second tech smelled so badly of body oder and bad breath I sent him away.
The installers came from three different companies (Saint Louis, MO). That was two years ago. We are now down to one company and hopefully DirecTV will purchase them. As sub-contractors, the companies have no real vested interest in helping DirecTV succeed.
We shall see....

I think the company they use here in central NJ is called All-Star or something of that nature, and they are God awful, even rivalling Comcast's service level. DTV should be ashamed of having this company represent them.

im a directv installer, one if the biggest problems i see is techs half doing stuff and when i get to a house i have to deal with a customer who is mad at me for something that someone else did. Also im having a problems( and so are my other techs) with HD and HD DVR receivers that are pieces of crap. Thats why I made a website for my customers to contact me about problems there having and also videos and info to help them with there problems. Check out my site if you want Directv and/or if you need some help with your existing service.
