As a DISH
Network customer, I was surprised to hear the DIRECTV didn't already carry
TNT-HD.
My surprise will be short-lived as DIRECTV is adding TNT-HD to the lineup on February 17th. Hmm...did they pick the
exact day of the DTV transition three years in advance for a reason? Anyway, TNT-HD fits in the $10.99 a month HD
package already offered alongside of the ESPNs, HDNets, Discovery-HD and Universal HD. I hope you DIRECTV'rs don't get
too excited; TNT-HD runs a fair amount of repeats with an occasional decent movie or NBA
game.

I also don't think its a coincidence that February 17 is the day that the NBA All-Star Festivities begin airing on TNT.

I am excited, if it were my post I would have titled it. "DIRECTV gains back some of it's edge".
Seriously it is a welcomed addtion. I used to have it when I had cable and I enjoyed some of the movies and the original content. If they would only stop stretching L&O it would be better.

I've searched all over and can't find any info to confirm DirecTV adding TNT-HD. Sure would be nice though...

This is great news for me, and DirecTV HD sub, but I really want National Geographic HD. Make it happen D*!

Yes.
I just confirmed this info with a representative from DirecTV's corporate offices (in El Segundo, CA). Starting February 17th (and yes, just in time for the NBA All-Star Weekend). I'm excited about getting it because to me it means more NBA games in HD (which is a beautiful thing on a 60" HDTV).
BTW, if you have DirecTV and have local networks, but not local networks in HD, contact DirecTV and ask them to fill out something called a "waiver request" which may allow you to recieve NY or LA network affiliates. I was only able (or eligible) to get FOX NY in HD. It's not much, but, it's better than nothing. And the more HD channels I can get, the better!!!!

Have you tried an off-air antenna to get your locals? I use a Terk TV32 antenna and I get 70-100% signal on all my locals here in dallas and I am between 45-50miles away from the towers.

Don't be too exicited. Watching TNT-HD is like flipping a coin - you may or maynot be watching in 'true HD'.
Sometimes their movies are in HD and another time they stretch the movie to fit the screen, which means everthing near the edge of the screen becomes elongated aka stretched.
They do this with the series Angel, Charmed and also their weekend Movies.
Somebody needs to tell TNT-HD that is not cool.

What NationalGeographic HD? I heard that next to adding TNT-HD Directv is about to add NationalGeographic HD and TLC-HD; can anyone confirm this????
